RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) If you believe you have completed a course with an employer or you have verifiable industry experience then you can apply for RPL. This would mean that you would present evidence in the form of a letter and statutory declaration and/or a certificate which outlines your work experience and your level of competence. You then fill out the RPL form and return it to Mrs Clark (Head of Department Business & IT) who will either approve or decline your application. The RPL form is available in the VET student handbook.

Complaints and Appeals If you have a complaint about being deemed not yet competent and negotiation between you and the teacher has not resolved the issue you can lodge a complaint. If you have been declined RPL for a competency you can appeal this decision also. Both have forms that you need to fill out and submit to Mrs Clark and can be found in the VET student handbook.

Learner Agreement Each student upon entering the course must sign the Learner Agreement. You will still do the course work regardless of whether you return the form or not. Your parents also need to sign this form. The school keeps a record of those students who returns the agreement. You will also fill in a commencement form when you are part way through the course as well as a survey when you finish.

Characteristics of a Certificate Learner
