Subject / Column commitment We expect pupils to fill 4 of their 5 columns One column is left free for study / volunteering opportunities If a pupil is doing 3 Advanced Highers, we count this as 4 columns We encourage pupils to stick with their 4 columns wherever possible, to show commitment to their studies and to add their bank of qualifications Young Applicants in Scotland Scheme (YASS)

(S6 tie, braiding on blazer) Privileges – lunch queue, signing out, using designated senior spaces

Opportunities for Wider Achievement In-Class Support – Students may approach staff in faculties where they have expertise in subject areas and use time to support younger pupils in junior classes. Training is provided. Paired Reading - Support is given to younger pupils to develop their literacy through reading together. Commitment is essential to the success of this scheme. Training is provided. Peer Mentoring – Training is given to those interested in this programme on how to provide support for younger pupils. Pupils requiring a peer mentor may be vulnerable and experiencing a variety of challenges. Your role will be to offer some guidance in terms of friendships, learning or behaviour. Committed individuals required.

Opportunities for Wider Achievement Volunteering in the community – Students may choose to seek opportunities to volunteer in the community in other ways, including at local primary schools either in classes or working with individual children, or at local businesses, e.g. British Heart Foundation, Museum, Special Needs Playscheme. Sports Committee – This group is for pupils who can help promote sport throughout the school and help out with various sporting events. My world of Work Ambassadors – Interested in supporting others to plan for careers in the future? My World of Work will come and train interested pupils to be ambassadors for their website to promote life-long planning and learning. Inter-House Committee - Drive forward the great work started by our last S6 and take it a step further! Organise more inter-house competitions, be involved in delivering and counting House tokens and organising the reward for the wining House!

Opportunities for Wider Achievement Charities Committee – Will meet once a week to plan events which will raise money for school charities. A vibrant, engaging experience!   Leavers’ Committee – Will meet approximately once a week to plan and coordinate the S6 dance, the yearbook and hoodies. Great opportunity to develop business sense, communication skills and work with others. Health and Wellbeing Committee – Lead a group of pupils from all year-groups to plan and carry out events regarding health and wellbeing. Conduct interviews with pupils and staff and gather data to help the school move this hugely important area forward.

Opportunities for Wider Achievement Eco-Schools – Forward-thinking individuals with an interest in the school environment required for this committee, to develop ideas on how our school can be a more environmentally-friendly place.   Hospitality – A wonderful opportunity to make people happy by organising catering and refreshments for school events throughout the year. Baking, financial and people skills required! Senior Council – Head Pupils, Depute Head Pupils, House and Vice House Captains meet fortnightly with the S6 Year Head to discuss important school matters. Performing Arts Group – Planning, publicising, organising and becoming involved in music and drama events throughout the year. Fresh ideas welcome!

Opportunities for Wider Achievement Science Club – A select group of budding S6 scientists will staff and support a Primary Science Club and S1/2 Science Club throughout the year. A very rewarding experience involving doing stuff you love and working with younger pupils. S6 Pantomime – A group will meet in the run up to Christmas to produce a school Christmas Pantomime for staff and pupils. MORE IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITIES – Primary sports days, P7 transition visits.
