Now pick the most important thing out of the 3, and free write everything you can on the topic for a few minutes. My heart The ability to forgive Grit My mom forgave me more times than I can count…

A Letter You’ll Never Send Look Within Prompt Example If you know you’ll never send a letter to someone of your choice, what would you write on it? Look within… I know you’ll never read this letter, and it’s because I’ll never send it, but I just wanted to say…

The Life You’re Living Now Look Within Prompt Read the following quote by Bob Marley. Think about the question, and then write something inspired by the quote. You can write a poem, a song, or if you don’t know what to write, just free write.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder Look Within Prompt Pick an object that is ugly, and create a character who finds it very beautiful. Have the character describe the object in a way that convinces the reader of its beauty.

Flash Fiction Look Within Prompt Look around the room and pick a random object--an object that most people probably would not notice. Have a character who is devastated to find this object, and tell the story of why this object devastates them.

Shame Look Within Prompt Think about a time in your life when you felt shame. Write a poem or a story that reflects what you felt within.

Haiku What is it? Example Has three non-rhyming lines. Look Within What is it? Example Has three non-rhyming lines. First line has 5 syllables. Second line has 7 syllables. Third line has 5 syllables. Often about something beautiful in nature. “Brisk spring and fall air New colors glance in my hair As I watch in awe.” Prompt: Write a haiku about what you see when you look in the mirror.

Reflect and Revise Look Within Take a look at all of the creative work you did today. Pick your favorite piece of writing. Now think about the Reflections theme “Look Within”. Can you revise your piece to reflect that theme more directly?

Final Free Write I forced you to do a lot of writing today. Look Within I forced you to do a lot of writing today. Now, it’s time for a final free write. Thinking about the theme, “Look Within” write something that inspires you. It can be a poem, a short story, a narrative reflective piece, or even a song.

Reflections: Expand on something you started during the writing workshop OR start something from scratch (poem, short story, etc.) that fits the theme “Look Within.” Turn in your free writing sheet before you leave the class. If you need more time to complete the reflection submission, I will give you until FRIDAY (October 25). This is going to count as a grade regardless of if I submit the reflection or not. If I choose your writing to submit for the reflection, you will get a test pass from me for Quarter 2 that will change any test or project grade to a 100.   ADD A FOOTER
