Is God Holy or Not

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.  Isaiah 6: 1-7 NIV

3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;     the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. Isaiah 6: 1-7 NIV

What is Holiness?

God is Holy

Who among the gods is like you, Lord Who among the gods     is like you, Lord? Who is like you—     majestic in holiness, awesome in glory,     working wonders? Exodus 15:11 NIV

“There is no one holy like the Lord;     there is no one besides you;     there is no Rock like our God.” 1 Samuel 2:2 NIV

“To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. Isaiah 40:25 NLT

God’s Ways Are Holy

8 Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;     no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made     will come and worship before you, Lord;     they will bring glory to your name. 10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds;     you alone are God. Psalm 86: 8-10 NIV

Your eyes are too pure to look on evil;     you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Habakkuk 1:13 NIV

I will stand at my watch     and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me,     and what answer I am to give to this complaint. Habakkuk 2:1 NIV

God Calls Us to Holiness

For I am Yahweh your God, so you must consecrate yourselves and be holy because I am holy. Leviticus 11:44 NIV

“Be holy, because I am holy.” 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1: 14-16 NIV

Conclusion: We must determine what we believe in our heart. God is holy in every aspect. Let us be in awe of His holiness. Let us trust and find peace in His holiness above all else. Let us follow Him and live as Holy people, that we might be His reflection in this world. Let us stand on what we know is true.
