Classroom Management Classroom rule: “respect” & “think” Classroom pledge: The pledge was developed by the students and is the mantra we start each day with. Individual goals: Each student sets one goal daily Touchdown: Students strive to earn yards, via academic and behavioral achievements. I believe that students continually striving to achieve, are motivated and challenged and will be successful students. Rewards are met through individual, team, and whole class opportunities.

8/18/2016 Curriculum Reading: Students will read and respond to a variety of literature. Response and analysis skills will be addressed along with vocabulary and grammar conventions. Writing: Instructions will address writing strategies, applications, conventions, and the organization and delivery of oral presentations. The writing focus for this year will be narrative, informational reports and persuasive essays. Math: Math will include instruction, guided practice, and independent practice. Daily morning math spiral review is also part of our program. Concepts covered this year are: decimals, algebra, fractions, geometry, measurement. Social Studies: The big ideas addressed are US history Pre- Columbian to Constitution. Science: Concepts this year are covered in three areas, physical, life, and earth sciences. 5th grade will address space systems, structures and properties of matter, Earth’s systems, matter and energy in organisms and ecosystems.

P.E.: We will participate in 100 minutes of P.E. weekly Mile run 5th graders Visual and Performing Arts (V.A.P.A.): We will participate second semester. 50 minutes each week. Technology: Chrome Lab each week. Apple Ipads

8/18/2016 Grading: (A) 90-100% - Advanced (B) 80-89% - Proficient (C) 70-79% - Basic (D) 60-69% - Below Basic (F) 0-59% - Far Below Basic

VOCAB: activities and days will vary. Testing every two weeks. We would like to collect this amount from everyone no later than January 2020
