KEY LEARNING When one group is excluded or discriminated against it affects the whole community. For my group to flourish/thrive and lead a good life it requires that ALL groups are have their needs met (our communities are interconnected). What is happening in other countries has an impact on our local communities (our world is interconnected). In South Africa this is called uBuntu (My well- being is dependent on the well-being of everyone). Key learning points: When one group is excluded or discriminated against it affects the whole community. For my group to be able to flourish/thrive and lead a good life it requires that ALL groups are having their needs met (our communities are interconnected) What is happening in other countries has an impact on our local communities (our world is deeply interconnected). In South Africa this is called uBuntu (My well-being is dependent on the well-being of everyone). This was an important part of what made South Africa’s peace process work. For the society to function well again there was an understanding among ‘black’ South Africans that perpetrators need to be offered forgiveness and given a chance to normal human being again by giving back to the society. uBuntu
