Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOP&S) State Funded Program Mission: To serve low-income and educationally disadvantaged students by providing academic support services to assist students in achieving their educational goals. Philosophy: “Over and Above” – provide services that are over and above the services that the general population of students receive.

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) Supplemental support program for EOP&S students who are single head of household parents with at least one child under the age of 18, and receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and or California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) benefits.

EOPS/CARE 2017-2018 Allocation & Requirements EOP&S Total Amount: $397,442 Student Cap: 298 District Match: $146,307 Book Expenditure $42,968 CARE Total Amount: $49,817

Allowable EOP&S Expenditures Obligation A: Obj. codes 1000-5000 Administrative costs & program operations Academic, Classified salaries and benefits. Other program operating expenses, instructional supplies/materials, office supplies, printing and outreach materials. 2017-2018 EOPS: $263,006 2017-2018 CARE: $3,583 ( includes 15% of EOPS academic salary & benefits)

EOP&S Measurable Outcomes Workshops- Our staff partnered with CalWORKs, Mental Health & Wellness, and the Transfer and Career Center to provide workshops on, Time Management, Self-Care Transfer Basics, Writing a Personal Statement, Personal Finance, Test Anxiety, and Finishing Strong/ Preparing for Finals. Grads and Transfers- 40 grads and transfers

Alignment with BCC’s Mission & Strategic Goals Goal I The EOPS/CARE Program partners with the CalWORKs program, Mental Health Services , and Transfer & Career Center to provide workshops that support personal and academic development and address some of the challenges that often interrupts academic successes. The EOPS/CARE program provides academic and career counseling, tutoring services for Math and English to support student success Goal II Midterm progress reporting for all program participants is designed to support student competency and allows us to assess student needs and meet those needs with campus and community referrals.

Alignment with BCC’s Mission & Strategic Goals Goal III EOPS provides Career-Technical Education ( C.E.) materials to program participants. EOPS Counselors provide academic counseling to students interested in BCC C.E. Programs Goal IV The EOPS program is a diverse program Staff are equipped with cultural sensitivity and competency understanding. With the adoption of AB 705 the EOPS program and the Jerry L. Adams Learning Resources Center will partner up to provide additional support for students.

Program Flexibility EOP&S CARE The EOPS program Category B & C allows for marketing materials to be purchased and distributed for program outreach. Berkeley City College programs and services can be an iatrical part of that promotion as long as EOPS is the focus CARE The CARE program is for a specific population of students which must also be promoted through BCC marketing materials

Program Flexibility Student Employee EOP&S / CARE EOPS program category A&B allows us to hire program participants as student workers for the program, including Clerical Assistants, Tutors, EOPS Ambassadors, and Peer Advocates. All student workers must be in compliance with the EOPS Mutual Responsibility Contract and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress
