Welcome to Einstein Class

Who is Who? Mrs Turner (Monday to Thursday) and Mrs Jaeger (Friday) are the Year Six class teachers. Mrs Lunn is the class teaching assistant and is also supporting Year Six children (Monday to Thursday). Mrs Dolding will be the teaching assistant working on Friday alongside Mrs Jaegar. Mrs Modjesch and Mrs Hackworth will cover PPA time with PE and RE on Thursday afternoons Other adults in class – Mrs Harrington for French

Class Organisation Class expectations The children are expected to always work to the best of their ability. The children must listen carefully and follow instructions first time. Year 6 children act as role models for the rest of the school so it is important that their behaviour is exemplary. Reward System Reward systems are in place for high standards of behaviour and for good work. The system will be different to that currently in place next year and further details wil be shared with children and parents early next year. Reading Books The children read books from the school library which are appropriately colour coded. The children are encouraged to move up the banding system. In Einstein Class, the children may, with permission, choose home books to read instead BUT the books must be age appropriate. Reading at home must include some reading aloud to an adult AND discussing what they have read. Studies have shown that a children who read regularly at home with an adult at primary level have a hugely increased chance of academic success right through to degree level!

Homework Reading to be done daily, if possible, for 20 minutes – including reading to an adult. Spellings will be set on Friday and will be tested the following Friday. Times Tables – by Year 6 it is expected that ALL times tables are known off by heart for immediate recall. Please play times table rockstars to improve recall of these….it is really fun way to learn these! Mathletics homework will be set on Thursday and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday. All children must complete the task provided. Please speak to the teacher if there are any concerns in this regard. English homework will be set on Thursday and this is due in the following Wednesday.

Our Curriculum in Term 1 Topic - Geography – comparing places around the world - France, UK and New Zealand (FUN) Science - Classification - Living things and their habitat Art – Printing Music - Don’t stop believing, Singing - Christmas concert PSHE - Healthcare: Improving Life Chances RE - Divali PE – Dance and Mini Rounders

How can you help? Support with homework and spelling activities, revisiting spellings over the week. Aim to hear your child read daily. Let us know if there are any significant changes at home. If your child is sick please do not send them into school for 48 hours after the last time of being sick. Medication- you need to complete a form from the office. Encourage your child to be independent – taking responsibility for own uniform, water bottle etc

Dates for your diary: 4th & 5th September INSET 6th September first day at school for children 14th September visit Houses of Parliament Half term 23rd – 27th October Term 2 begins 30th October 2017 Christmas Holidays 21st December – 1st Jan Term 3 begins 2nd January 2018

....and finally! Water Bottles – water only please! PE kits to be kept in school I am happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. Please come and speak to me in the playground, but please be mindful that I will be teaching at 8.55 in the morning! If you would prefer to speak for longer, please make an appointment at the office.

Any Questions?

I WISH YOU ALL A FABULOUS SUMMER BREAK WITH LOTS OF FUN, PLAY AND REST

You are all unique ……………..

What do you know about me? Mrs Turner What do you know about me?

Your task is to design your own shield all about you. Use an ipad to research about your family crest and in one of your sections place a similar crest. Then in the other sections create a design to tell people about yourself.
