Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 Kawanna.Alderson@cobbk12.org Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of October 22, 2018 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Ask and Answer Questions We will ask and answer questions such as who, what, when, where, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in an informational text. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the October writing calendar Math Practice math facts IXL Practice skip counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s within 1,000 Math: Place Value We will learn how the three digits of a three digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones. We will read and write numbers to 1,000 using different forms. We will also skip count by 5s, 10s, 100s within 1,000. Spelling Choose an activity from Speller’s Choice Board Complete S.O.S. for weekly words: put, were, should Writing: Informational Writing We will write informative/explanatory texts that include all of the following: introduce the topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or sections. Reading Read a nonfiction text for 20 minutes every day Ask questions about your nonfiction text Raz-kids Science/SS/Health: Creek and Cherokee We will compare and contrast the Georgia Creek and Cherokee cultures of the past to those of Georgians today in terms of tools, clothing, homes, ways of making a living, and accomplishments. Ex: huge, large, gouge Apostrophe We will use an apostrophe to form contractions AND frequently occurring possessives.
