Crispin Maths Department Transition and Primary Links

Meetings hosted at Crispin School Links with CLP Three meetings minimum a year with Maths leads from Primary and Secondary schools in the CLP network. Meetings hosted at Crispin School Led by Jo Cronin - advisory Maths specialist

Mathstopia Led By Jo Cronin , a former Somerset LA Maths Consultant. Meetings develop the mathematical context of the way we teach to accelerate pupil progress. Whole staff training events for all primary and secondary staff. Recent: Singapore Maths and Bar modelling methods

Calculation Policy All feeder schools to Crispin have adopted the same calculation policy to aid the transition of mathematical methods. The calculation policy was written by a KS1, KS2 and KS3 specialists. Calculation policy is available online for parents and carers to support students at home.

Starting at Crispin All students sit 3 baseline assessments mirroring the KS2 SATs. Students are not set on arrival. Setting is worked out on a triangulation of results (SATs, Baseline assessments and Cognitive Assessment Tests). All students will have started a Maths classbook in primary school along with a ‘How I do methods’ sheet to help them transfer to the maths curriculum.
