Workforce Innovation Opportunities Act (WIOA) Transition & Other Employment Updates Project SEARCH- Currently 41 sites (now national leader!). Current providers and school districts continue to express interest in expanding the program. Pre-ETS- Program staff continues to work with BEESS on strategy to increase local engagement between VR and schools Youth Peer Mentoring- As of September, 37 agencies are now certified to deliver Youth Peer Mentoring services and 13 of those have at least 1 mentor on staff and can receive referrals. Community of Practice Webinars- with providers to offer technical assistance, updates on service expansion, and notification of upcoming training opportunities scheduled throughout the state. Training on the YPM service is being scheduled for VR staff. N/A

Workforce Innovation Opportunities Act (WIOA) Business Relations (BR) Update Aerospace Career Networking Event- October 24th in Pensacola, in partnership with University of West Florida. A representative from US DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs will attend and present information to the employers. Brevard Internships in Construction Knowledge (BRICK) project- second summer program resulted in 52 work experiences! Students earned a total of $32,883 and 17 certifications in OSHA or CPR. Led to expansion in Jacksonville with Northeast Florida Builders Association and to partnership with advanced manufacturers in Brevard County. Partnership with Collins Aerospace has resulted in 5 OJT opportunities and upcoming expansion to Collins’ worksite in Miami. In SFY 2018-19, the Abilities Work Help Desk sent the field 725 requests for applicants.
