What do we study in Biology? THE UNITS

Introduction to biology: What is life Classification of life Hierarchy of life 

Chemistry of Life: Protein structure and function with an emphasis on enzymes Carbohydrates Lipids Nucleic acids (DNA!)

Cells During this unit we will focus on the structure and function of the cell and its organelles.

Cell Membrane and Cell Transport During this unit we will discuss how materials are able to enter and exit your cells.

Cell Processes: We will explore processes such as mitosis, meiosis, photosynthesis, cellular respiration and protein synthesis!

Genetics: Be prepared to explore how a variety of human traits are inherited and how to predict genotypic and phenotypic frequencies.

Biotechnology: This is just like CSI!

Evolution: How did life begin on the planet? Do populations change over time? How can we determine if a population is evolving?

Ecology: Food chains, food webs, energy pyramids, biomes, etc…

Dissections: What else do I have to say?!
