Add a Picture Click the Insert tab. Click Pictures in the Images group. Select a file from your computer and click Insert. Resize the picture as necessary by clicking and dragging the white box on the corners and sides of the picture. Finished? Add 2 more pictures.

Add Shapes Click the Insert tab. Click Shapes in the Illustrations group. Click on the icon corresponding to the shape you would like to insert. (This will turn your cursor into a plus sign – meaning that you can click to insert the shape). Click anywhere on the slide to insert the shape or click and drag to size the shape. TIP: Hold shift when dragging to insert the shape to maintain proportions. Finished? Add 2 more shapes.

Embed Videos Click the Insert tab. Click Video in the Media group. You can now choose to insert a video from your computer (if you have it available there) or to embed an online video from YouTube or via an embed code. Click Online Video. (This will open a dialogue box). Click in the search box of the YouTube option on the dialogue window and search for anything you like or Howard Community College. Select a video and click Insert. Finished? Embed another video.

Add a Theme Click the Design tab. Select a theme from the Themes group. TIP: Hover over the themes to preview the changes before applying them. Finished? Apply a theme to this slide only by clicking on the Design tab, then right clicking on a theme and selecting Apply to Selected Slides.

Click the Home tab. Click Convert to SmartArt in the Paragraph group. Select a style and the list will automatically be converted into SmartArt. You can also click More SmartArt Graphics to see more options. TIP: Hover over the style to preview it before applying. Finished? Change the SmartArt graphic by clicking on the Design tab under SmartArt Tools and select a different layout.

Add Slide Transition Click on the Transitions tab. Select a transition to apply it to the slide. Finished? Add transitions to 2 (or more) other slides in this presentation. Then preview the slideshow to see how it looks.

Add Animation Select the picture of one of the girls by clicking on it. Click on the Animations tab. Select an animation to apply it to the picture. Finished? Apply animations to the other two pictures.

Add Sound Effects to Transitions Click on the Transitions tab. Click the drop down arrow of Sound: in the Timing group. Select Explosion. Finished? Apply sound effects to the transitions of slide 8 and 9.

Add Sound Effects to Animations Select the picture of money by clicking on it. Click on the Animations tab. Select the Appear animation by clicking on it to apply it to the picture. Then click the Animation Pane in the Advanced Animation group. (This will bring up the Animation Pane as a sidebar on the right of the screen.) Right click the Picture 2 animation in the Animation Pane. Click Effect Options. (This will bring up a dialogue box.) Click the drop down arrow on the Sound option and scroll down and select Cash Register. Click OK. Preview the slide to view the effects. Finished? Apply sound effects to the animations of the girls on slide 9.

Embed Hyperlinks Visit the Howard Community College Homepage Select the text “Visit the Howard Community College Homepage” by clicking on the words until Visit the Howard Community College Homepage is highlighted. When the text is selected (highlighted), right click on it and select Hyperlink. (This will open a dialogue box). Click in the Address text entry box and type the web address: http://www.howardcc.edu/. Click OK. Note: If it worked, the text will turn blue and will be underlined. Finished? Add Navigation & Links within a Presentation Select the picture of the penguins by clicking on it. Right click on the picture and select Hyperlink. (This will open a dialogue box). On the left side on the dialogue box under Link to: select Place in this document. Select 3. Add a Picture to link to that slide when you click on the picture. Click OK. Finished? Try the following: Link the text Home to slide 1 Link the smiley face shape to slide 4 Link the heart to slide 8 Link the back arrow to slide 12 Link the forward arrow to slide 14 Home

Create Flash Cards Tulips On the Home tab, click the down arrow on New Slide and select the layout Title Only. (This will create a new slide with the Title Only layout). Insert a picture from your computer and move and resize it to fit under the title. Type in a name for the picture in the title text placeholder. Ensure that the title text is still selected and click on the Animations tab. Select an animation to apply to the text. Finished? Click on the flash card slide you just created and press CTRL + D to duplicate the slide. Double Click on the picture and click Change Picture in the Adjust group. Select a new picture from a file or the web and click Insert. Change the text to reflect the new picture. Repeat 2 more times to create 2 more flash cards.
