Fake muons rejection with MOORE G.Carlino, F.Conventi, M. Biglietti Moore Phone Meeting 10/10/03

K μ + υ μ + υ 5 GeV < p T (K/ ) < 12 GeV 280k eventi ricostruiti DC1 layout η<1.2 0< <180 Data sample: Prompt muons p T η < bb μ(6 GeV) + X (prompt muons) 10 K eventi ricostruiti Initial layout Full OFFLINE environment!! Tracks reconstruction: Moore and iPatRec Using also MUID package

Trigger Pt > 4.3 GeV Rejection cuts ID of the identified muon: decay kink gives a spoiled ID fit match : bad match between the inner and the muon track for a muon from a decay | 1/ Pt – 1/ Pt ID | : originating from K/ decays has a Pt lower then the meson detected by the inner tracker 2 match | 1/ Pt – 1/ Pt ID | Fakes muons from K/ Decays Rejection At low momenta (p T < 8 GeV/c), the in flight decays from K/ are the dominant source of muons High Level Trigger must reduce this fraction of muons MOORE/MUID can be used as Event Filter algorithms

Efficiency curve vertex Fakes muon from K/ decays Rejection : results
