Need to monitor temperature for this reason. Atmospheric pressure gives sufficient yield. Heat given off used to generate steam and electricity to improve efficiency. 98% of SO2 is converted. Need to monitor the SO2 / SO3 ratio. Need to ensure no SO2 is released.. Why?

Then H2S2O7(l) + H2O(l)  2 H2SO4(l) Must be done in two steps because direct reaction of SO3 with H2O is so exothermic that a fine mist of H2SO4 droplets which is hard to work with.
