W Justin Geneus Women

In Ancient Mesopotamia women were not equal to men however they did have rights. Example, they could freely go to the market, sell goods, handle legal issues, own property, and own their own businesses. Back then, only boys could learn to read and write but there were exceptions to women learning to read and write if they were upper class. The upper- class women belonged to members of a royal family who placed their lives to the temple as priestesses. The lower-class women or some of them had jobs/ responsibilities running parts of the towns or roles in the city government.

Mesopotamian women are similar to women today because women today have governmental jobs like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sarah Palin, and Hilary Clinton.

E Justin Geneus Education

Back then in ancient times, the Sumerians believed in education. All schools were attached to temples and only boys went to school. The Sumerians wanted their sons to learn how to read and write. They had a common written language called cuneiform. That long ago, teachers were deeply strict. Students had to do things perfectly or else they would be punished with a spanking. Despite the constant punishments they received, students still loved to go to school. Anyone who could read and write could always find a great job.

Sumerian education is similar to life today because Haitian teachers still whoop their students when they act up. Unlike Mesopotamia, Haiti has no social classes because it is an amish village, so everyone is poor. However, there was one man who was the first ruler of Haiti. Christophe Henri, who was the Haitian president for 4 years and the king for 9 years. So Henri was the 1 st high-class man of a low-class village.
