DAWG Deployment Availability Working Group Bottom Line Up Front – How to get started Meeting interval Meeting model(s) Meeting attendees Meeting agenda

DAWG - BLUF 1. Fast way to spin up is to read AFI 10-203 Duty Limiting Conditions, 15 Jan 2013 Tier 1: Read Chapter 4 (8 pages) & Atch 4 (1 page) Tier 2: Search 10-203 for “DAWG” & read relevant hit Tier 3: Review all of AFI 10-203 (49 pages)   2. Decide if you want “combined” or “split” DAWG i.e. “administrative DAWG” + “case review DAWG” 3. Use Atch 4 template or templates in this briefing to jump start your documentation.

DAWG – meeting interval - AFI 10-203 4.1.1.1. The DAWG at ARC installations should meet monthly, but not less than quarterly.   IMHO…. …monthly meeting is overkill for admin functions …quarterly meeting is inadequate for case review So, a quarterly administrative DAWG and a monthly case review DAWG is probably close to optimal.

DAWG – meeting model 1. DAWG mtg combined w/ AMC +/- OEHWG quarterly mtg   2. Separate DAWG mtg 2.a. Address all DAWG req in one quarterly mtg 2.b. Address DAWG admin req in quarterly mtg & address DAWG case review req in monthly mtg

DAWG – meeting model 1. DAWG mtg combined w/ AMC +/- OEHWG quarterly mtg -Advantage: only 1 quarterly mtg to schedule -Advantage: all 3 mtgs chaired by SGP -Advantage: quarterly DAWG interval aligns w/ AMC & OEHWG AFIs -Disadvantage: long mtg to cover all required items -Disadvantage: attendees of each mtg vary, so potential for suboptimal use of attendees time -Disadvantage: quarterly interval is probably inadequate for DAWG case review functions

DAWG – meeting model 2. Separate DAWG mtg 2.a. Address all DAWG req in one quarterly mtg -Advantage: one quarterly meeting -Disadvantage: quarterly interval is probably inadequate for DAWG case review functions   2.b. Address DAWG admin req in quarterly mtg & address DAWG case review req in monthly mtg -Advantage: optimal intervals for both admin & case management -Advantage: isolates PHI to case management DAWG allowing anyone to attend admin DAWG -Disadvantage: monthly meetings for case review

DAWG – meeting model: Admin Attendees Per AFI 10-203 SGP (chair), SGH, SPO (if not the SGP or SGH), Profile Officers, MSME (ANG full time health technician), ARC Fitness Prgm MLO (if not the SGP) Per AFI 36-2905 Wing Fitness Prgm Manager.

DAWG – meeting model: Admin Attendees - Note: Chair may elect to have reports from other sections with prgms that impact deployment availability, such as Optometry for gas-mask inserts, Public Health for immunizations, and Dental. - Note: requirement for FSS rep gone. However, I think it is still a good idea to have a FSS rep given the need for a good working relationship for ASIMS/MilPDS data reconciliation and NDDES Prgm execution.   - Note: if no PHI is addressed, anyone may attend DAWG (AFI 10-203 4.1.2.5.)

DAWG – meeting model: Admin Agenda See attached template for reports and metrics. (DAWGStandardAdministrativeAgenda130606.PDF) &/or   AFI 10-203 Attachment 4

DAWG – meeting model: Case Rev Attendees Per AFI 10-203 SGP (chair), SGH, SPO (if not the SGP or SGH), Profile Officers, MSME (ANG full time health technician), ARC Fitness Prgm MLO (if not the SGP) All Members of the Professional Staff Note: many members listed in AFI 10-203 are NA for ARC, such as PEBLO, Exercise Physiologist, DoD/Veterans Affairs military services coordinator, a mental health rep, Women’s Health Clinic rep.

DAWG – meeting model: Case Rev Agenda Cases that req DAWG rev listed AFI 10-203 Ch 4 For typical ANG unit, I sorted these into 7 groups. Additional detail for each group provided in attached file (DAWGStandardCaseReviewAgenda130606.pdf )   CASE GROUP I. (para 4.1.3.5.) Initial-RILO CASE GROUP II (para 4.1.3.8.) Renewal-RILO CASE GROUP III (para 4.1.3.2.) AAC 31 Review CASE GROUP IV. (para 4.1.3.3.) Other cases CASE GROUP V. (para 4.1.3.1.) Airmen with DLCs which do not affect mobility CASE GROUP VI. (para 4.1.3.6.) AAC 81, pregnancy CASE GROUP VII (para 4.1.3.9.) MEDCON cases
