Presentation transcript:

When an organism grows, repairs itself, reproduces or replaces old cells, new cells need to be made. Every new cell needs its own copy of the genetic code (DNA) that is the same as the original. Making new copies of DNA is called DNA replication (kikoruatanga pītauira).

1.The DNA double helix unwinds and the two strands are separated. 2.The two original strands of DNA act as templates ( แม่แบบเกลียว ) to make new strands that match. Nucleotides will come along to form the new strand. 3.There are now 2 identical DNA molecules that wind up separately and each one will go into a new cell.

1.Discuss the importance of DNA. 2.Why do you think it’s important that DNA is replicated accurately? Think, share, and then discuss (written) your answer.
