The Rebuilding of Southern Wind
When We Started, We Knew The Rebuild Would Be A Challenge
So We Started Working Immediately
For 11 Months We Worked Every Day
Record Floods Did Not Stop Us
We Looked After Each Other When We Got Hurt… We Lived and Laughed Together…
When We Didnt Know How To Do Something, We Learned Together
And We Became First a Crew, Then a Family Sunrise On The SolsticeGood Times In The Engine Room Our Four-Legged CrewFirst Thanksgiving Onboard
And So We Turned an Empty Aft Space Into Six Cabins, a Head and Storage… Aft Head Aft Double Cabin Aft Single Cabin Aft Hallway
Our Main Salon Became A Usable Living and Working Space…
We Rebuilt The Bridge and All Its Systems…
Sky and Noah Building the Forward Cabin Spaces…
We Built An Office and Communications Center…
We Re-Fiberglassed and Re-Painted Southern Wind…
We Re-sewed the Sails And Put In New Rigging…
Replaced Our Generator and Rebuilt The Galley… Out With The Old…In With The New Sky Laid Out The Galley
We Organized And Re-Packed 6 Tons Of Relief Supplies…
Loaded 8,000 pounds of Lumber and Building Materials and Secured Our Cargo In Our Holds And On Deck
No Challenge Was Insurmountable
Because These And So Many Other People Put Their Hands Under Our Project And Kept Us Afloat…It Was Very Hard To Say Farewell To All Our New Friends.
Without all Your Love, Support and Encouragement This Would Never Have Been Possible! Thank You Everyone For Helping Us Make Our Dream Come True…We Will Carry Your Goodwill To People On The Shores Of Distant Seas. Next Stop, Haiti!
