Shepherd school of Engg & Technology Seminar On Red tacton Submitted To: Submitted By: Er.Raghav yadav Prateek hoori lal(10BTCSE004) Jitendra shamual(10BTCSE011) Abhineet anughrah peter(10BTCSE15)

1: INTRODUCTION Red Tacton is a human area network based technology ,developed by Japanese company NTT(Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation ), which claims that it can send data over the surface of the skin at speeds of up to 10mbps which is equivalent to fast broadband data connection. The name chosen for this technology is derived from “tacton” meaning “action triggered by touching” combined with red, which in Japanese culture is an auspicious color with the connotations of warmth & love.

2: AN OVERVIEW OF REDTACTON Above Figure shows a person opening a door with the help of an RED TACTON device.

Red Tacton, using the minute electric field emitted on the surface of the human body. In redtacton communication starts when a part of human body comes in contact with a red tacton transceiver. The body surfaces may be any of our body parts like hands, fingers, arms, feet, face, legs.

3: WORKING PROCEDURE Transmitter sends data Transmitting transceiver creates a change in the field Field from human body dissipates into earth Electric field is received using sensing technology Receiving transceiver recognizes the change in the electric field Sensing technology measures the weak electric fields induced. Electro-optical crystal uses laser to convert and read the signal into message.

5: MAIN PRINCIPLE RedTacton relies upon the principle that the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to the changes of a weak electric field. RedTacton detects changes in the optical properties of an electro-optic crystal using a laser and converts the result to an electrical signal in a optical receiver circuit

6: RED TACTON TRANSCEIVER Block diagram of Red TACTON transceiver.

7:FEATURES OF REDTACTON

TOUCH Communication with just a touch or step Using red Tacton ,communication starts when terminals carried by the users or embedded in the devices are linked in various combinations through physical contact according to the human's natural movements.

BROADBAND & INTERACTIVE Duplex, interactive communication is possible at a maximum speed of 10Mbps As the transmission path is on the surface of the body, it does not deteriorate in congested areas where many people are communicating at the same time

ANY MEDIA In addition to the human body, various conductors and dielectrics can be used as transmission media DILECTRICS CONDUCTORS

8:APPLICATION FIELDS Major application fields are Device personalization New behaviors patterns Security applications

Personalization Digital lifestyle can be instantly personalized with just a touch. Personalization of automobiles for e.g. just sitting in the seat triggers the car to load all its presets, just the way we like

New behaviour pattern Various conductors and dielectrics can be used as RedTacton communication media, and this has the potential to create new behavior patterns. For e.g. connect to the network just by putting laptop on the table because an electrically conductive sheet is embedded in the table.

Security applications Automatic user authentication and log-in with just a touch for e.g User verification & Lock management at entrance by carrying a mobile RedTacton-capable device in one's pocket, ID is verified and the door unlocked when the user holds the doorknob normally

9:MERITS A communication environment can be created easily Communication environment can be formed with items close at hand like desks, walls and metal objects. Data transfer is faster & easier through this technology.

10:DEMERITS There is a limit on the conductor size for propagation. Some difficulty in installing the devices. Cost is high.

11:CONCLUSION So we conclude that, red tacton is the best technology when compared with other data communication technologies present today. In this technology there is no problem of hackers as our body is itself a media. If red tacton is introduced into cyber market it brings tremendous change and will be adopted by many more people.
