What are –re verbs? Like regular –er verbs, most (not all) verbs that end in –re follow a regular pattern.

How do you form a regular –re verb? Drop the –re from the infinitive. Add the appropriate ending from the chart below: -s-ons -s-ez -_*-ent *Notice that you don’t add anything to the 3 rd person singular form.

répondre à = to answer; to respond (to) Répondre is followed by a form of the preposition à. –Nathalie répond à Louis. –Je réponds au professeur.
