Defining Area Area is the quantity that expresses the extent of a two-dimensional surface. It is commonly measured in square units.

Area of a Square The area of the square is simply the product of one of the sides multiplied by itself.

Area of a Rectangle The area of the rectangle is the product of the length and width of the shape.

Area of a Triangle The area of a triangle is the product of the base multiplied by the height divided by two.
