Welcome to the Ask IPER Web Conference We’ll be getting started in just a few minutes Hosted by the Council of State Archivists

Before we get started, let’s review iLinc features  Ask a question by “raising” your hand  Send a chat message (public or private)  Rearrange what you see on your screen 2 Ask IPER Web Conference

Five things your IPER Instructional Team should be doing right now 1. Meet regularly and get to know one another. 2. Complete the CoSA Assessment of Emergency Preparedness in the States and Territories (if you haven’t already done so). 3. Discuss how you will promote IPER in your state. 4. Learn to use iLinc. 5. Gather submissions for the IPER Resource Center (when IPER staff request it). 3 Ask IPER Web Conference

Meet regularly and get to know one another.  Visit one another’s offices.  Discuss what roles you each would play in a disaster that affects essential records.  Identify characteristics of the records media, storage space, or other factors that could have an impact on response and recovery actions. 4 Ask IPER Web Conference

Complete the CoSA Assessment of Emergency Preparedness in the States and Territories (if you have not already done so)  prepare/framework/ assessment.htm prepare/framework/ assessment.htm  As you discuss each question and rank your state's preparedness, you'll gain a better understanding of your state's unique strengths and weaknesses 5 Ask IPER Web Conference

Discuss how you will promote IPER in your state.  Compile a mailing list of potential students  Identify conferences at which you could speak or distribute information  Use iLinc to host an information session online  Order IPER materials or develop your own and share with the project 6 Ask IPER Web Conference

Learn to use iLinc (and practice, practice, practice!)  Take the iLinc online tutorials training.php training.php  Hold a conference call or information session using iLinc. (Contact IPER staff to reserve time.) 7 Ask IPER Web Conference

And soon... Gather additional submissions for the IPER Resource Center (when IPER staff request it).  The first request came June 11 for Intro to RIM course. Focused on links to definition of a record (in statutes and/or regulations), records schedules for state and local governments, and guidance on management of electronic records. It’s not too late if you haven’t submitted yet.  In October-November, we’ll be requesting links specifically related to the two main courses as the launch of the new website approaches.  When the new site is launched, we’ll hold training sessions for state teams so you can keep your own information up-to-date throughout the site. 8 Ask IPER Web Conference
