Presentation transcript:

Because of Winn Dixie Review

What genre is “Because of Winn Dixie?” Dixie” is realistic fiction. It has events and characters that could be like those found in real life.

In which person is “Because of Winn Dixie” told? “Because of Winn Dixie” is told in first person. I know this because the narrator uses words like “I” and “my” to tell the story. The narrator is in the story.

Who is telling the story in “Because of Winn Dixie?” Dixie” is being told by Opal.

What is the setting for “Because of Winn Dixie?” This part of “Because of Winn Dixie” takes place at a library in Florida.

Why does Miss Franny think Winn Dixie is a bear? Miss Franny thinks that Winn Dixie is a bear because once when she was young, a bear really did come into the library. The flashback in the story explains why Miss Franny was so frightened.

How do Miss Franny’s feelings about Winn Dixie change? At first, Miss Franny is afraid of Winn Dixie; but then she shows that she likes him because she allows him to come into the library.

What is Opal’s main problem in the story? Opal and her father are new in town, and she doesn’t really have any friends other than Winn Dixie. She is a little lonely.

Is Opal’s problem solved at the end of the passage? Opal’s problem is solved at the end of the passage because she finds a friend in Miss Franny.

How does first person point of view help the reader better understand the story? When a story is told in first person the reader knows what the narrator is thinking, in addition to the events happening in the story.
