Presentation transcript:

He Was Known For His Beauty Narcissus is a beautiful young man who spurned sex and died as a result. Narcissus is the son of the river god Cephissuss and the nymph Lirione. Narcissus lived in the city of Thespiae.

Narcissus was a man who refused to love a nymph named Echo. His rejection, of the love of the nymph Echo or of his lover Ameinias, drew upon him the vengeance of the gods. Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection and died staring into his own eyes. The flower that bears his name grew in the spot where he laid.

Narcissus can be a single or multi-headed flower. Narcissus comes from the Greek word for "numbness" referring to the narcotic properties of the plant. The flower is named after Narcissus in the Greek legend. Its originally from South West Europe. There are over 25,000 varieties in shades of yellow, white, orange and peachy pink. Seasonal availability is from October to April. About The Flower.
