Present Simple > gewoonte, permanente situatie I swim every day. You go to school at 8 a.m. We always work hard. You wash the car on Friday. They come from Italy. I don't swim. You don't go. Do we work? Do you wash? Do they come? He works. She washes. It swims. He doesn't work. She doesn't wash. It doesn't swim. Does he work? Does she wash? Does it swim?

Present Continuous > gebeurt nu (of toekomst) I am swimming now. You are going tomorrow. He is studying at the moment. She is sitting down. It is running away. We are working hard. You are washing the car. They are coming from Italy (reis). I 'm not swimming now. You aren't going to school. He isn't studying at the moment. She isn't sitting down. Is it running away? Future with ‘will/won’t’ > gebruikt bij voorspellingen, beloften, bedreigingen, beslissingen. > gebruikt bij meningen na bv ‘sure, think, know, hope’ He won’t be late. (prediction) I’ll be back soon! (promise) You’ll be sorry! (threat) OK, we’ll leave in the afternoon … (decision) I’m sure he won’t come. (opinion) I think she will be there. (opinion) I know this won’t fit. (opinion) I hope she won’t cook. (opinion)

Future with Present Continuous > gebruikt bij vaststaande afspraken (meestal met tijdsaanduiding). I’m seeing Jim tomorrow. They aren’t coming next week. I’m going to Switserland next summer!
