Essential Question: What is a goal and how can goals help us? how can goals help us?

What Is a Goal? A dream is a wish your heart makes, but a goal is a dream with a deadline.

GOALS Specific goals answer the questions:  What am I you going to do?  Why do I want to do it?  How am I going to do it? Use positive action words – read, study, ask, earn, increase… read, study, ask, earn, increase…

On the handout you need to write a SMART goal you would like to accomplish this school year (long-term). It can be academic, social or behavioral.

Examples  Get to school on time with all my materials 95% of the days this semester.  Stick up for peers who are treated poorly by classmates on the playground whenever I feel safe doing so this year.  Raise my hand at least once in every social studies class this semester.  Earn an A is Science and an O for effort all 4 quarters.
