Christmas celebrations start on the 6th of December in France. La fete de Saint Nicolas
Some French people attend midnight mass on Christmas Eve. However- often this is at about 8pm! This is called Le Réveillon (the awakening)
French children don’t have a Christmas stocking…… They leave their shoes by the fireplace….. Le Père Noël leaves small presents in their shoes!
La bûche de Noël is a traditional Christmas dessert in France. It is called the Yule Log in English.
La Galette des Rois It is a cake eaten on the 6th January (Épiphanie) The cake has a charm inside it. Whoever receives the charm is the King/Queen for the day!
