Putting Students at the Center School District Reorganization July 1, 2012 Education and Early Childhood Development 1

On January 11, 2012, the New Brunswick Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, Honourable Jody Carr, announced plans for a major re-organization of the Provinces 14 School Districts. This action was taken to provide a more efficient and effective structure for schools to provide a quality learning environment for its students in light of the on-going changes in student demographics and fiscal accountability. On July 1, 2012, the present School District structure consisting of 9 Anglophone and 5 Francophone Districts will become 4 Anglophone and 3 Francophone structures. 2

Our System WILL Have the student, and therefore the schools, the focus of all our efforts Promote and support inclusion Integrate early childhood development Embrace community involvement Welcome and promote parental involvement Permit creativity and flexibility and promote 21 st century competencies in our students Be built on the leadership of our principals 3
