Presentation transcript:

 Results answer three important questions: ◦ Where do I stand right now? ◦ What are my plans and goals after high school? ◦ Am I on track for college? ◦ Page 3 – What do scores mean?  1-25 (scale score)  Composite = average of English, Math, Reading, and Science  English sub-scores  1-12  Usage/Mechanics and Rhetorical Skills

 Shows how you did compared to others who took the EXPLORE test  EXAMPLE: ◦ If you scored in the 56 th percentile (56%) you scored higher or the same as 56 percent of students across the country who took the test.

 Your EXPLORE score range can be used to estimate your PLAN score range ◦ Your PLAN score range cannot be used to estimate your ACT range ◦ You are very likely in 10 th grade to score in the range given to you on your PLAN test.

 Box in bottom left corner – course plans compared to CORE requirements ◦ Use this to plan your high school courses  Plans for after high school – box in bottom middle ◦ What you selected as your plans during the beginning of the EXPLORE test ◦ Undecided is okay ◦ Invalid Response is okay – just look to interest inventory results  Reported Needs Box ◦ Shows your choices for extra help  College Readiness – Far right box ◦ Benchmark scores for college-prep  English – 15  Math - 19  Reading – 17  Science - 21

 Turn to back of results folder  Step 1: World of Work ◦ Divides work into areas of interest  Step 2 : Your Interests ◦ Shaded area shows the combination of your Career Area choice and the results of your Interest Survey  Step 3: Exploring Career Options ◦ Visit ◦ Choose 2 career options in the shaded area that might be of interest to you  **What if I don’t like my results?**

 Open your folder so that the inside is showing  Answers with Workbook – take time to look over your answers and work  Beside your answers in the purple shaded area you are given tips for improvement in each section

 At the bottom of page 11 you are given requirements for career options ◦ Use the career area letters on the back of your results folder to match your course requirements with your selected careers  Use pages 12 – 13 to help plan your high school courses for the Spring registration  Example is given on Page 14

 Our school was above average in four sections compared to the national score, including composite score… Great job!!  Science was the highest average score with 17.1 – AWESOME!  Most chosen answer for help needed – STUDY SKILLS ◦ Due to the high influx of this answer we will incorporate this topic into one of our guidance lessons when we see you after Christmas break.  Thank you for your hard work – it paid off!!

 If you have any further questions or concerns please let your teacher know so Ms. Ward or Ms. Jackson can see you.  Teachers, if you have any questions please feel free to us or stop by the counseling office. GO PIRATES!
