The Ballad of Nancy Depathy Created by: Tarrique Brooks-Bey, Jacqueline Devine, Natalie Drake, Devon Farquharson, Marshall Weiss

Nancy Depathy grew up in Mansfield And now she lives in Tolland Her mom is French Canadian and her dad’s Italian His folks came through Ellis Island Went to Mitchell College and got her degree And worked for Pratt and Whitney Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

When both her girls left for school, she look to fill her time To work Nancy chose to go She enjoyed hands on tasks, but was good with numbers too Her finance skills she did show Started at the paper, the books were in rough shape Her new job was to make numbers flow Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got the Daily Campus out of debt

Attention to detail, according to her, Is the most important thing And making sure there are no mistakes Is another talent Nancy brings Working real late, so the job can get done It’s of Nancy’s devotion we sing Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

She says the best part is working with kids She loves the students here They keep her updated with technology Cause much can change in a year She loves the UConn programs, especially the sports And for the women’s team she does cheer Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

Each summer she visits her Rhode Island home She loves to walk on the beach She watches the sunset out on her deck Her family within reach And when the leaves turn, she comes back here New students to guide and teach Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

There is talk of switching it all to online And ridding the paper for good But Nancy prefers to hold in her hands The way she believes that it should Lucky for Nancy, she knows that her job Will remain secure and good Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

Her advice to any UConn kid: to seize the current years They all go by so fast And when the day comes that we graduate And leave UConn here in out past Nancy will be here keeping things sound We know the Daily Campus will last. ‘CAUSE Without blood or sweat She got it out of debt She got Daily Campus out of debt

The End Thank you to everyone who helped make this broadside possible and a special thank you to Nancy Depathy
