Determine how to Balance pH 1.What pH would I add to neutralize a substance with a starting pH of 4? 2. What about starting pH of 14?

1.Follow directions below to make cabbage juice indicator. 2.Each group member tests the pH of their substance using the cabbage juice indicator in a clear plastic cup. Record your results. Making Cabbage Juice Indicator 1.Rip the cabbage leaf into small pieces and place in plastic bag. 2.Add ¾ cup very warm water and seal the bag closed. 3.Gently squeeze the bag for about 3 min. until the water turns dark blue.

Part 2 Seal baggie with cabbage leaves inside & throw away. Test each person’s substance using the LabQuest pH meter. *RINSE THE PROBE OFF AFTER EACH SUBSTANCE!!! Clean up your lab area
