Structure’s, Strategies & Composition Key Concept 2 Key Features 1, 2 + 3

Demands of Individual roles Centre Guard Forward For each role list the following qualities needed: Technical Physical Personal

Qualities needed… Technical QualitiesPhysical Qualities Personal Qualities Centre  Rebounding  Passing  Height  Strength  Confidence  Determination  Decision Making Guard  Dribbling  Passing  Speed  Agility  Leadership  Court Awareness  Decision Making Forward  Shooting  Passing  Power  Speed  Decision Making  Focus

Identifying strengths & weaknesses For your role in the 3 man FB, identify some: Strengths Weaknesses

Individual weaknesses Centre: Does not get rebound Outlet pass too slow Outlet pass across key Centre runs down same side as Forward Moves up court too slowly / quickly Does not follow in forwards lay up/shot

Guards weaknesses At rebound Guard is too close / far away Does not move / too slow move to outside Passes rather than dribbles Dribble up one side not centre Stops to pass to early Passes too late / hols ball for too long Poor passing Poor jump shot – low % if they have to shoot

Forwards weakness Run up the centre Cuts in too early – lack of width Cuts in too late / too slow = slows attack Poor lay up technique Lacks confidence Does not get pass and stops in front of basket – cut off space for centre

Strengths Think the opposite of weaknesses…. Use Page 5 of the course notes Think technical, physical and mental It may be an individual S+W or combined team S+W, could be width, depth, tempo… In 2’s Pick one S / W that relates to you and your position. Explain the effect this S + W had on your performance and on the whole teams performance of the 3 man fast break

2012 Q8c (i + ii) (i) Within your role, identify one strength when performing in this structure, strategy or composition. Explain the effect this had on your performance.
