How Can These New Knowledge Tools Work for Santa Ana? Problem:Strategy: Only 30% of Santa Ana residents have Internet in their homes Many residents speak limited English and have no experience with computers Santa Ana’s unemployment rate is over 15% Santa Ana’s school dropout rate is 8.5%, and 72% of SAUSD students have low Academic Performance Index scores Provide Internet access at the Library Provide computer assisted ESL help and classes conducted in Spanish; provide information through self-produced video Provide computer-based bilingual job skill and search classes Promote childhood literacy with Early Literacy Computer Systems; provide programs for teens that increase their tech literacy and self confidence
