EPPING, LQB381 Understand SI Units  AMOUNT = kg or moles (g, mg, mmol)  VOLUME = m 3 (cm 3 = mL, L)  CONCENTRATION = AMOUNT / VOLUME –e.g. mg/mL, mg/L, kg/L, moles/L, μmoles/mL  NOTE: some combinations are IDENTICAL –2.0 moles/L = 2.0 mmoles/mL = 2.0 μmoles/μL –3.0 g/L = 3.0 mg/mL = 3.0 μg/μL –note: In a formula, units cancel out! STICK TO SI UNITS  DO NOT CONFUSE MOLES WITH MOLAR –MOLES is an amount –MOLAR (moles/L) is a concentration –Since many students confuse the two, stick to using “moles/litre”
