2 3GPP UE Conformance  3GPP W-CDMA User Equipment (mobiles) conformance test specifications are under high responsibility of 3GPP TSG T1  T1 specified protocol and signalling tests to ensure the UE interoperability  TS , Common test conditions  TS – 1, Prose test specification  TS – 2, PICS & Applicability Statement  TS – 3, TTCN Test Specification  3GPP recognise that the UE interoperability is one of key issues to ensure 3G success  Standardised rigorous conformance is the decisive way for UE interoperability  3GPP with the marketing partners funded a task force (ETSI MCC task 160) to develop TS  3GPP management commitment to this project in a long term

3 3GPP UE ATS  3GPP UE ATS Project  Started June 2000  3 Mio € fund till 2003  experts from ARIB, CWTS, ETSI and T1 members  ETSI provide leadership and management  Task force works closely with 3GPP TSG-T1 and test industry  ATS written in TTCN-2+  Test procedure, method and contents follow the prose  800 TC in 8 ATS over Uu radio interface  All ATS share the common modular test library  Access stratum test  Non access stratum test  Radio access bearer test  3G – 2G test

4 ATS Approval, Prioritisation & Maintenance  Quality criteria for approval  TC approval one-by-one  TC run on two different tester platforms against commercial UE  Test log files and parameter setting published  400 TC prioritised in 4 test packages  A test package contains 100 TC  P1 completed  TC deployment package-wise  Whole deployment in 2004  4 Maintenances per year  Delivery every two weeks  Three streams  Move baseline  Once per year  Synchronised moving  For all 3G vendors  Backwards compatible

5 TTCN-2 / TTCN 3  TTCN-3 is the language for 3GPP further test specs  Rel-5 and above, e.g. SIP test  Mobile Application Enabler test  3GPP test industry invested largely in TTCN-2  Further demands on TTCN-2 tools with deployment of approved TC  No plan to convert 3GPP ATS from TTCN-2 to TTCN-3  Tool makers should pay attention to TTCN-2 tool maintenance
