World Weather Watch Programme ( ) Reaffirmed that the WWW continues to be the backbone Programme of WMO WWW should provide a fundamental contribution to all WMO priority areas, namely, GFCS, DRR, WIGOS/WIS, Capacity Building and Aeronautical Meteorology. WMO

World Weather Watch Programme Structure (annex) Three Key components: –Global Observing System (GOS) Doc. 3.1(1) –Global Telecommunication System (GTS) –Global Data-processing and Forecasting System (GDPFS), Two support programmes –WWW Data Management (WWW/DM) –WWW System Support Activity (WWW/SSA) Four Incorporating programmes: –Instruments and Methods of Observation Programme (IMOP) –Emergency Response Activities (ERA) programme –WMO Antarctic Activities (WMOAA) programme –Works closely with the Tropical Cyclone Programme (TCP) WMO

World Weather Watch Programme ( ) Fiftieth anniversary (2013) of WWW should provide opportunity to further strengthen public awareness of this unique Programme of WMO: –invited Secretary-General to make necessary arrangements; –encourage Members to provide the necessary resources. Stressed the need to mobilize resources for strengthening the WWW, especially in developing countries. WMO

World Weather Watch Programme ( ) WWW continues to provide an effective mechanism for the application of developments in science and technology in operations of NMHSs & co-ponsored programmes. –opportunities new science and technologies offer the WWW –encouraged continued working with the private sector –ensure that support for the WWW Programme reflects the highest priority WMO
