Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) reduce the power consumption, as well as volume of physical hardware and software produced and shipped.

These services are offered from data centers all over the world, which collectively are referred to as the "cloud."

18 REM/ITD (Cg-XVI, 27th May 2011) Final thoughts WMO As IT permeate deeper into the workplace, if IT doesn’t work, the Office can’t function. But IT in isolation doesn’t have any business value. It is essential to recognize the absolute dependence of most businesses upon the Information Technology and the quantity, quality and the availability of the information that IT provides and supports. Therefore there are and will be an increasing need to align business practices with IT on a continuing basis.
