 Open textbook to page 770 and 771.  Read Literary Focus and Background.  In your own words, write the definition of myth.  How does the hero myth compare/contrast to the hero’s journey.  Find Troizen, the home of Theseus.  How did the geographical features of Greece lead to their being many small independent kingdoms rather than one unified state. Myths and Society

 Examine the list of characters on page 772.  Divide a piece of paper into eight squares.  In each square, list a character, a characteristic and a picture.  This will help you in the reading of the story.  On the back of your paper, draw a family tree depicting how the characters are related.  Listen and follow along as we read the story, “Thesues”.  Be an active listener and jot down notes as you listen to the story! Thesues
