More complements Predicate nominatives and adjectives

What are PNs and PAs?  This is a complement that identifies or modifies the subject of a linking verb.  NO ACTION VERB!!!!!!!!!!  Predicate nominatives (P.N.) and predicate adjectives (P.A.)are the two types.

Predicate nominative  Identifies or refers to the subject of a linking verb.  Do you remember what those things are?  May be a noun, pronoun or word group that functions as a noun.

P.N. examples  Andrew is the state champion.  Who is state champion?  The state champion is the Carrie.

Predicate adjective  This is an adjective that is in the predicate that modifies the subject of a linking verb.  Fluffy was dirty.  Do not assume that every adjective in the predicate is a P.A.  Fluffy was a dirty dog. This is a plain adjective – not a P.A.

P.A.  Terrence is happy.  Does the yogurt smell sour?
