What are PNs and PAs? This is a complement that identifies or modifies the subject of a linking verb. NO ACTION VERB!!!!!!!!!! Predicate nominatives (P.N.) and predicate adjectives (P.A.)are the two types.
Predicate nominative Identifies or refers to the subject of a linking verb. Do you remember what those things are? May be a noun, pronoun or word group that functions as a noun.
P.N. examples Andrew is the state champion. Who is state champion? The state champion is the Carrie.
Predicate adjective This is an adjective that is in the predicate that modifies the subject of a linking verb. Fluffy was dirty. Do not assume that every adjective in the predicate is a P.A. Fluffy was a dirty dog. This is a plain adjective – not a P.A.
P.A. Terrence is happy. Does the yogurt smell sour?
