COLLEGE ENROLLMENT AND WORK ACTIVITY OF 2010 HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES In October 2010, The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that only 68.1 percent of 2010 high school graduates were enrolled in colleges or universities. The college enrollment rate of recent high school graduates was slightly lower than the record high set in October 2009 (70.1 percent). The college enrollment rate of Asians (84.0 percent) was higher than for recent white (68.6 percent), black (61.4 percent), and Hispanic (59.6 percent) graduates. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)

PROMOTING COLLEGE AT ANTHONY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CAMPUS Staff members wear college/university t-shirts as part of the teacher dress code on Mondays. During the morning announcement we highlight/discuss a university of the week. Students recite the “Eagle Pledge”- with the added reference to college: I believe in myself and I am here to succeed. I am responsible, respectful, safe and prepared. I will do all I can to help myself and others learn. I will do my best because everything I do today will affect my tomorrow.

Every Friday a fight song is played of a particular college/university. Once a month we mention a university mascot and play “name that University.” Posted at the entrance of the school we have a sign “No Excuses! We’re a College Bound Campus!”

There are University pennants in the school hallways. Our hallways have over 100 pennants displayed!
