 New York became a state on July 26,  New York is the 11 th state of the United States.  There were a lot of new settlers, so they built the Erie Canal in 1825 for transportation to all over the United States.  New York had so many jobs that the people kept coming and coming and the economy grew and grew.  In 1929 the Great Depression changed the economy and it got bad, but, during World War II New York bounced back from the Depression because it was a major shipping port for the military.

 Andrew Cuomo is the 56 th Governor of New York. Governor  The capital is Albany  New York or NY, is a Democratic State  There are 29 US House of Representatives  There are 2 Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.  New York is a Democratic state.
