 Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Purchase in  He bought it for $15 million  The Emperor of France sold it to Jefferson because he needed the money for his army.

 Jefferson sent Lewis And Clark to explore the new land  In 1804 Lewis and Clark left St. Charles  It took 2 whole years!  They Traveled the Missouri river The blue is where Lewis and Clark traveled.

 Sacajawea traveled with Lewis and Clark for part of the journey.  She was a Shoshone Indian woman.  She helped Lewis and Clark get horses from the Shoshone Indians and translated with other native Americans.  Sacajawea had brought her new born baby on the journey and Clark called him Pompom. Sacajawea was honored by being put on a coin
