Networking at the Very Beginning Connected to IPTEKNET via LAPAN using Amateur Radio Packet Technology –In 1993 to 1996 –Used PC/AT 286 with TNC (Terminal Node Controller) and VHF transceiver –ITB Packet Radio Gateway operational until 2000

Networking History (cont’d) Get leased line with 28.8 kbps –It was 1995 Become the first AI 3 satellite Internet node with 2 Mbps speed –With JSAT Satellite –Using Ku-Band frequency –Since 1996 to 2004 –Migrating to C-band

Our Current AI 3 Groundstation C-band Dish for UDL 13 Mbps shared downlink C-band Dish for BDL 1.5 Mbps Uplink

History continues… Sharing AI 3 bandwidth with some Indonesia universities –Some knowledge sharing and teaching assistance in TCP/IP Network Bandung (Wireless LAN 11 Mbps) Unisba, Unpar Outside Bandung Unila, Unsyiah VSAT and Leased Circuit (64 kbps to 256 kbps)

Bandung Wireless MAN Designed to connect Bandung AI3 partners –Leased line was expensive –No ISDN at that time Begin with (no a,b,g and such!) –In frequency 900 MHz –Using KarlBridge –Later migrating to 2.4 GHz –Using FreeBSD PC Router with ISA b/g card

Current Bandung Wireless MAN Located in 9 th Floor PAU-ITB
