Craft v. Factory Production

Discuss these questions with your group and answer them in your notes ◦Explain a cottage industry. Explain a factory during the revolution ◦What are the main differences between the cottage industries and the factories? ◦Which system do you think you would enjoy working in more? (Be prepared to explain why) ◦If you were an entrepreneur, which type of industry would you use to run your business? (Be prepared to explain why)

Main difference: ◦Cottage Industry: craft-based economy  Workers create goods from start to finish ◦Factory Production: used assembly lines  Assembly line: arrangement in which a product is moved from worker to worker, with each person performing a single task in its manufacture
