 Jefferson does not run for a third term.

 The Democratic Republican candidate, James Madison is elected to office in  Federalist nominate Charles Pickney Madison won 122 votes to Pickney’s 47!

 British impressments of U.S. sailors and newly formed British alliance with the Natives, cause many Americans to want to take an aggressive stance against the British.

 Wanted to avenge the British actions against the Americans, but also wanted to expand the nation’s power.
