SCA Training Programme update Core, specialist and management short courses : 139 courses with 2,143 places : 123 courses with 1,968 places Cost per place has decreased from £56 to £54 (includes planning & commissioning, trainers, venues, refreshments, admin, IT, quality assurance, evaluation) Programme revised – CQC requirements, increased personalisation & provider priorities

Course take-up and developments 15 approved training suppliers Co-facilitation with experts by experience Take up risen from 74% to 83% places available over last year (approx 62% care homes) Improved administration & on-line booking Participant quality ratings consistently excellent – good DNAs and advance cancellations have doubled since June; 43% DNAs from care homes

Workforce Challenges Increase in complex health needs of residents Impact on providers ability to deliver person centred care that meets individuals’ needs and preferences Implications for staff: numbers, roles and skills Recruitment and retention Vacancy rates 1% CHN and 3.6% CH, turnover 20.8% CHN and 16.8% CH. Maintaining high quality workforce development
