The management consultancy & reflective report TASK: Produce an individual report (max. 2,500 words)* advising managers seeking to work in an emerging market on management practice in an international and cross-cultural context. Your must review what you have learnt about applying concepts and theories of international business management to practice – refer to assignments, case studies and readings – which may be useful for the international manager (you), and reflect on how you may carry this forward in the form of your career plan NEXT PAGE: details on contents/structure of your report

Choose the emerging market about which you will write this report addressed to international managers Introduce – give the reason for your choice of emerging market and the remit of this report addressed to managers (250 words) Because you are advising managers seeking work in another country/emerging market, you need to:  Describe management issues and practices typically encountered in your chosen emerging market – this requires some research (1000 words);  Critically review and analyse the practice of working in culturally diverse teams (you may use your own experience in the module), and the challenges of researching information with an international focus (drawing on colleagues’ knowledge or experience) (1000 words);  Make a final short list of key points of advice to managers (250 words) Submit your report by or before Thursday 31 st July pm to the UG OFFICE (CALCUTTA HOUSE ONLY)

Criteria A successful report will: Review and describe the practical aspects of management in the chosen emerging market Produce solutions that address business problems and demonstrate awareness of cultural diversity and ethical considerations in international business management Evaluate critically the practice of working in culturally diverse teams and the challenge of researching information with international focus

You will be graded on: Evidence of research (breadth & depth), for example reference to research in managing across cultures Critical/analytical content of sources Understanding of business issues or problems typically encountered in the chosen emerging market Understanding of practical realities of management in a diverse cultural context Coherence of structure and logic of argument Referencing standards Presentation standards (style, spelling, grammar) Criteria (continued)
