XMM XMM-NEWTON TTD Meeting: 8 April OPS-OAX (J. Martin) Autocommanding J.Martin, XMM-Newton SOE

XMM XMM-NEWTON TTD Meeting: 8 April OPS-OAX (J. Martin) Autocommanding - Requirements Requirements (identified OICM # 27, Feb 2007) –Save Instruments in case of Radiation Alert Warning Flag (EPICs + RGS saving) EPIC MOS Peripheral Data (EPIC MOS saving) RGS CCD 9 (EPICs saving) EPIC PN Discarded lines data (EPICs saving) –Recover RGS in case of CCD Analogue Out-of-limit (15 voltages & currents monitored for each CCD) –Recover OM in case of Analogue Out-of-limit (12 voltages & currents monitored) –Fast reaction in case of AOCS anomalies (prevent ESAM or ensure fast reaction to anomalies once in ESAM) –Reset EPIC watchdog timers

XMM XMM-NEWTON TTD Meeting: 8 April OPS-OAX (J. Martin) Autocommanding - Implementation Radiation data LELA NCTRS MCS Multiplexer Verifier Releaser Manual Stack Auto Stack Limit Checker Packetiser NCTRS – Network Controller and Telemetry Routing System LELA – Live “Ed” Look Analysis MCS – Mission Control System SPACON – Spacecraft Controller John SPACON XMM Mission Operations Centre VC0 VC7 Telecommand Out-of-limits Procedures Changes for Autocommanding -Database updates -New limit checking parameters -New Autocommand sequences -Software updates -LELA Interface -Autocommander AutocommandLELA Interface

XMM XMM-NEWTON TTD Meeting: 8 April OPS-OAX (J. Martin) Autocommanding - Validation Database updates –New limit checking (derived parameters) validated and included in latest database release (DB 5.9) – Autocommand sequences validated against MOC simulator* Software updates –LELA Interface validated (operating in background since 2 nd April 2008) –The Autocommander is validated. The only issue is with a forced failure of the Multiplexer (the Autocommander does not connect properly) Workaround is to restart Autocommander in this case * With exception of AOCS sequences

XMM XMM-NEWTON TTD Meeting: 8 April OPS-OAX (J. Martin) Autocommanding - Operations Operations procedures expected in place next week Parallel operations –Start16 th April –Parallel testing using back-up chain connected to live data –Familiarisation/training period for SPACONS Full operations –Start TBD
