Remit for the National Curriculum 1.The review is for pupils aged from 5 to Slim down the current National Curriculum 3.Enable all children to acquire a core of essential knowledge in key subjects 4.Give teachers the freedom to use their professional expertise, and enable all children to realise their potential The review covers: Art and design, Citizenship, Design and technology, English, Geography, History, ICT, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Language, Music, PE, RE and Science.

History - Purpose of study A high-quality history education will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It should inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching should equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement.
